Thanks for the pics Nicole!
i had a suprise wine brought by Nicole last week during a dinner where we hosted some blogger friends at Tasting Room. It was bought during her recent trip to Vietnam and this was a wine called Vang Dalat, dalat red wine. Initially my natural defences told me not to drink it as it’s normal to be skeptical of anything out of the ordinary. But I never refuse any wine so here goes my tasting notes:
Colour: cherry red with hints of salmon hue
Aroma: red fruits, hints of grass (herbaceous notes) with some sweet spices
Palate: off dry red fruit nuances, pleasant and has an extremely short finish
76/100 (RK)
Nothing fantastic but I’m just intrique that Vang Dalat is making an effort to make some local wines and from a website, it says that they are considering making some serious wine by importing French expertise, and also grow some international grape varieties.
It does not mention what this is made out of but from the description on the back label saying “Made from Dalat regional fruit”, I suspected it may have been made from a combination of grapes and some fruits.
Further research into this confirms that table grapes are used but the region does have some other fruits like mulberry as well. Apparently Vang Dalat also produces a peach cooler which tastes like Champagne (interesting!). Anyway, I will definitely pay Vang Dalat winery a visit on my next trip to Vietnam.
Thanks for the pics Nicole!
